Man United is trying to sign a new defender this summer, with Erik ten Hag interested in a move to Ajax.
Jurrien Timber’s agent has tempted Manchester United fans by stating that he will be in the city this week for ‘business.’

This summer, Erik ten Hag declared the Ajax defender his favorite center-back signing, while United prioritized Timber as their top defensive target. The 21-year-old is capable of playing at both right and center back, and with Aaron Wan-Bissaka available for transfer, United plans to reinforce both positions.
Timber is thought to be hesitant about a move to Old Trafford because he does not want to jeopardize his spot at the international level before the World Cup.
United might get a clear response on the Ajax center-back this week after his agent Revien Kanhai posted a photo of the city to his Instagram account with the caption: “Love to travel for work.”

The Manchester Evening News reported earlier this month that United had discussions with Portuguese defender David Carmo about a possible summer transfer.
Braga defender Carmo is being considered as a backup option, as is Villarreal defender Pau Torres, who was also considered a year ago. Before Antonio Rudiger chose to join Real Madrid, United held preliminary conversations with his representatives, and Ten Hag publicly supported Timber.
Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, and Axel Tuanzebe, United’s central defenders, could all go in the summer. Last year, United considered a transaction involving Bailly and Torres.
