Manchester United Coach Erik ten Hag wants to sign at least five players this summer, Gistmast reports.
According to Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag wants Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong, Christian Eriksen and Jurrien Timber and Antony, and also a back-up goalkeeper.
This list could cost the Red Devils millions to get the job done this summer.
However, Manchester United’s Chief Executive Richard Arnold said that ‘money is not a problem’ for the club to build.
United had a fantastic start to last season after signing Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, but it did not end well.
In an chat with fans on Saturday, Chief Executive Arnold said: ‘We spent more money than any club in Europe that is over a billion pounds on players.
‘I’m not happy about where we are. It makes me worry about the future. We absolutely burned through cash.
‘You can’t come to the training ground and say “show us the £1billion spent” because it was not done properly.
‘Last year was a disaster. The hate was obvious at every game. We’ve blown a lot of money.’
De Jong
Manchester United’s interest in De Jong is an example as the two clubs are yet to agree a transfer fee for the 25-year-old.
The Netherlands international is still highly likely to join Manchester United and work with Ten Hag again.
Christian Eriksen
Another player Ten Hag wants in midfield is Christian Eriksen.
The Red Devils can bring in the player maker on a free transfer without paying a fee.
The arrival of Eriksen would help improve United’s midfield options since the exits of Pogba, Mata, Matic and Lingard.
The Danish midfielder will provide some much needed experience as he leaves Brentford at the end of June.
Timber And Antony
Ten Hag wants to bring in his former players from Ajax such as Antony and Timber.
He is proving to be a key part of the negotiations between Manchester United and Ajax so far.
The Red Devils are interested in the Brazilian winger with a market value of £51m.
However, United face competition from Tottenham to sign Antony this summer.
Antony had a fantastic season with Ajax last year, winning the Eredivisie title.
For Timber, MySportDab understands that he was close to agreeing a £30m deal to join the Red Devils.
However, the transfer has now collapsed after former United Coach Louis van Gaal told the player that a move to Old Trafford could end his international career.
Back Up Goalkeeper
Dean Henderson’s exit at United is now very close and ten Hag also wants to sign a new back-up goalkeeper.
Watford’s Daniel Bachmann and Newcastle’s Karl Darlow have been mentioned but no talks so far.
Manchester United are currently behind the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and even Tottenham and Arsenal in transfers so far this summer.
