Manchester United star Mason Greenwood has clearly been impressed by Edinson Cavani and even appeared to be a little starstruck.
The young Englishman has admitted to benefitting from having the experienced Uruguayan onboard despite some fans’ initial concerns the latter would ruin the former’s match time.
Luckily Cavani hasn’t impeded Greenwood in that sense at all and it seems the transfer has actually benefitted rather than caused harm.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer couldn’t be happier with what’s going on as it’s easy to imagine this was exactly what he planned for when he signed the former PSG man.
The academy graduate hasn’t hit the ground running this season but has shown signs recently that his form has been picking up.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Greenwood said: “Anyone can learn from him, whether it is a young player or an older player.
“He has just come here and set an example, really. I like the things he does so I obviously pick up on the little things he does.
“I watch him in training and always have an eye on him, to see what movements he does, so I can add it to my game. So it is a big benefit that he is here at the club I think.
“You can see the two goals he scored against Southampton were just unbelievable. It was stuff he has been doing for 10 to 15 years at PSG and at Napoli as well, so he is a good footballer.”
Greenwood has had to deal with a host of on the field and off the field issues recently and it’s clearly affected his performances.
However, fans have been patient with him so far and have supported him more than ever, particularly after the English press decided to attack him relentlessly.
Supporters know what Greenwood is capable of and although it’s not confirmed just yet, even if he was dealing with second season syndrome, they would be willing to wait it out.
