- Messi thanks the ex-coach and wishes him luck in his next adventure.
- The Captain expresses his gratitude, saying Valverde is a great coach.
- Beyond that, the former coach is an even better human being.
Barca’s captain Leo Messi took it to Instagram to say one last goodbye to Ernesto Valverde, as the latter leaves Blaugrana.
“Thank you for everything, boss. Surely you will be great wherever you go because, in addition to being a great professional, you are a great person. Good luck and a big hug.”
2019, still under Valverde, was one of Messi’s best years in term of individual achievements. Just a month ago the Argentine won his record-breaking sixth Ballon d’Or. Earlier on, he was handed the European Golden Shoe for the sixth time, another world record.
Valverde also wrote a goodbye letter, which was posted on the official FC Barcelona website, expressing his gratitude for the support he received during his tenure from the Barca board, the staff and the fans. He also thanked the players for their effort and wished everyone at Barca the best of luck.
Valverde was officially sacked on January 13. He was in charge of Barcelona between 2017 and 2020. He won the domestic double in his debut season at the Camp Nou stadium. Another La Liga title, as well as the Supercopa de Espana, arrived in the following campaign.
