- ABC claim the Portuguese could be unhappy at Juventus.
- Rumour has it, Cristiano told his former Blancos teammates he would have won two Ballons d’Or if he had stayed at Madrid.
- This year, Messi claimed the accolade with Ronaldo finishing third, 200 points behind runner-up Van Dijk.
Boom! According to Spanish source ABC, Cristiano Ronaldo starts regretting leaving Real Madrid for Juventus, mostly because of Lionel Messi.
The most recent report claims the Portuguese striker believes he would have won two Ballon d’Or awards if he had stayed at Real Madrid. He even communicated these thoughts to his former Blancos teammates, the story continues.
Leo Messi was the last player to beat Ronaldo for the Ballon d’Or this year. The Argentine claimed his record-breaking sixth trophy, one more than the Portuguese striker.
The Portuguese finished third in the 2019 Ballon d’Or rankings, 200 points behind runner-up Virgil van Dijk.
Last year, however, it was Ronaldo’s former Blancos colleague Luka Modric who scooped the Ballon d’Or. The Croatian was the first player in ten years to break the Messi-Ronaldo duopoly.
The report hints at Ronaldo’s potential decline at Juventus. It’s true that the Portuguese hasn’t been at his best lately. He is often taken off before the end of the game. His goalscoring figures have dropped down significantly: Cristiano has only scored eight goals in 17 matches in all competitions this term.
Lionel Messi, meanwhile, has shrugged off the injury-plagued start to the current campaign. The Argentine is the best La Liga scorer right now with 12 goals. He is also the first player to score more than 10 league goals in 14 consecutive seasons across Europe’s top five leagues.
