Leo Messi is one of the main candidates to win the 2019 Ballon d’Or for his incredible performances since the start of the year. Barca’s captain has already arrived at the venue, as France Football reveal. The 32-year-old is accompanied by Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann.

Unfortunately, Messi is the only Blaugrana player to make it into the top 10, as preliminary results show. Ter Stegen finished in 24th place, Griezmann in 18th and De Jong in 11th. The final rankings are expected to be revealed during the event itself.
As various sources reported earlier, Messi is expected to get the award this time, which will make him the first player in history to win it on six occasions. Also, Real Madrid’s Luka Modric will supposedly be the one who presents Leo the award, as he is the winner of the 2018 Ballon d’Or.
Besides being nominated for the main award, Ter Stegen is also on the list of potential winners of the Yashin Trophy, a brand new award designed exclusively for goalkeepers.
