Most players finish their careers without ever scoring a hat-trick. And then there is Lionel Messi, who has scored 55 of those in his career so far.
The Argentine has scored so many hat-tricks that he’s lost count of them. At least that’s what it looks like when you consider how he celebrated his 50th career hat-trick back in 2019.
The funny (and surprising) part is that he didn’t even know he had just reached that milestone. Messi learned that from the reporter who was looking to get his reaction.
“You know this was your 50th hat-trick?” the reporter asked.
“Oh, was it?” Messi responded.
“Yes, 50 already. I think it’s six with Argentina and the rest with Barca,” added.
“Yeah? I didn’t know that stat. But well… three more points!” the then-Barcelona player said.
The video of it is again doing rounds on Twitter. The fans find it hard to understand how the one of the best players in history can remain so humble at the same time.
