- Bruno Fernandes could be unavailable for Manchester United’s midweek clash against Tottenham
- Fernandes hurt his ankle during their game against Brighton in the FA Cup semifinal
- The club is expected to provide an official statement with Champions League qualification still up for grabs
Manchester United have been hit with another setback after Bruni Fernandes was spotted in a protective boot on his ankle.
The midfielder’s wife shared the photo on her Instagram, sparking concerns that he could be sidelined for some time at a crucial stage of the season.
Fernandes appeared to hurt his ankle on April 23 after a collision with Brighton’s Alexis MacAllister. He appeared to be in a considerable amount of pain, but after on-pitch treatment, he soldiered on and lasted until the first half of extra time when he was hooked off.
He was seen passing on instructions to his teammates as they went into a penalty shootout with Roberto De Zerbi’s side. Luckily enough, they won to set up a final with Manchester City.
However, the photo shared by Fernandes’ wife, Ana Pinho, will be a concern to United faithful. The Red Devils play Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday as the race to qualify for next season’s Champions League hots up.

The club is yet to provide an official statement on Fernandes, but the boot suggests that his involvement in the Spurs game will be in doubt. The Portuguese was missed last week in Andalusia as Sevilla dumped United out of the Europa League.
Ten Hag has been unlucky with injuries this season, with first-choice centre-back pairing Rapahale Varane and Lisandro Martinez facing an extended period time out.
