Manchester United are still hoping to sign Frenkie de Jong and reports indicate that Barcelona have taken a step to somewhat resolve the deferred wages conundrum.
According to The Independent, the Catalan club owe payments worth €17million to the Dutchman and they have made an offer to get him to Man United.
However, the renowned news source have revealed that the offer was still over €10million less than the figure De Jong is owed. The Blaugrana need the situation resolved at the earliest to sign Jules Kounde.
The Dutch midfielder has mainly played in the central defense in the pre-season and we know that Barca are pushing him to leave.
On the other hand, Ten Hag is prepared to wait until the deadline day to secure the signing of the former Ajax star, who earns £320,000 a week (Mirror Sport).
Therefore, we can expect this transfer saga to drag on for some more time.
Man Utd have already lost their main defensive midfielder, Matic, and most creative midfielder, Pogba, on free transfers and Ten Hag desperately needs to strengthen things in the center of the park this summer.
Thus far, we have lured the likes of Tyrell Malacia (left back) and Christian Eriksen (playmaker) and agreed a deal to sign Lisandro Martinez (center back).
Will we be able to finally sign Frenkie de Jong? Only time will tell.
