Barcelona and Gavi’s agent Ivan de la Pena did not come to terms on a new deal for the player during their meeting on Thursday, according to ESPN.
However, the meeting ended on a positive note as both parties are now closer to reaching an agreement than ever.
Only tiny details remain for a full agreement to be reached between the player and the club.
According to Marca, Barcelona intends to sign a 6-year deal with Gavi and shoot his release clause from €50m to €1bn. His wages will see a sizeable increase too.
Gavi will also be officially promoted to the senior team after he signs his new contract.
