The former United midfielder believes the club believes in Amad’s ability which is why he’s being fast-tracked into the senior team.
But Hargreaves believes Diallo will be expected to make a significant impact soon because of his price-tag.
Speaking about Amad Diallo’s debut for Man United against Real Sociedad, Owen Hargreaves told BT Sport: “Well, I think when you sign players for that amount of money, you want them to have an impact.
“They obviously believe in him and that’s why he was on the bench tonight and came on. (Anthony) Martial and (Marcus) Rashford are setting the levels of what it means, but for the money they paid, they’re going to want a pretty significant impact.
“For Jadon Sancho, that category of player is already established, but Diallo is at the start (of his career). Hopefully he’s a special one for the future.”
Diallo only got about 5 minutes of game-time in his debut on Thursday, but managed to make an impressive impression by completing the most (3) take-ons among any players and bamboozling Sociedad’s defenders with his movement.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that the young winger will get more minutes going forward and could feature once against in the second leg vs Sociedad next week.
