- Pepe Mel predicts the Catalan giants are going to enjoy the midfielder who only cost them €5m.
- He praises the 17-year-old for his natural talent.
“I told Madrid about Pedri but the bravest was Barca, they took him and they’re going to enjoy him,” Pedri’s former coach at Las Palmas, Pepe Mel told Onda Cero.
On his exceptional prodigy, Mel added: “He is a natural talent. He made his debut with me when he was just 16 years old in the second division, if you let him have fun, he will grow a lot.
“Surrounded by that cast of stars, I am sure he will grow more.”
Indeed, Pedri had a trial at Real Madrid in February 2018 but he failed to show his worth ‘thanks to’ challenging weather conditions.
The promising midfielder joined Barca for €5m after scoring 4 goals and providing 7 assists in 36 Segunda games for Las Palmas.
