The Athletic’s David Ornstein has revealed that Arsenal held an interview with Max Allegri. The journalist believes that the Italian tactician did not impress the board.
- Poor command of English
“My information was that he spoke barely any English at all at the time and that he couldn’t even make basic small talk in English,” Ornstein is quoted by the Express.
- Large coaching team
“Another thing was that he asked for nine members of backroom staff to come in with him and Arsenal weren’t particularly impressed by that,” Ornstein said.
- Sense of superiority
“And some other reports, it’s not my information, is that Allegri was quite arrogant and kind of asked, presumably through his agent, why Arsenal should give him the job, almost like he was interviewing them,” Ornstein added.
Massimiliano is one of the best coaches in the world right now.
The Italian tactician is believed to be one of the candidates considered by the Gunners’ board. It was reported by Sky Sports earlier that Arsenal contacted the 52-year-old.
In five years with Juventus, Allegri won 5 Scudetti. He is on a sabbatical after quitting the Bianconeri in the summer.
