Marcus Rashford provided the assist for Jadon Sancho’s goal in the 1-1 draw with Southampton but his performance, on the whole, was a let-down.
Ralf Rangnick’s tactics require a lot of work off the ball to show good results. In the screenshots below, it’s obvious why things aren’t really working out for Manchester United.
We have Rashford standing absolutely still in his position even though he sees Southampton break through his and Diogo Dalot’s flank.
Instead, it is Sancho who not only spots the moment from the opposite flank but also tracks back to defend. Rashford is still rooted to his spot, by the way.
Sancho heads all the way back but, unfortunately, the visitors had already found the back of the net.
