Pogba struggled under Mourinho and eventually fell out with the Portuguese.
Ferdinand insists Solskjaer managed to ‘unlock something’ within the Frenchman.
Speaking on BT Sport, Rio Ferdinand said: “Ole Gunnar seems to have unlocked something within Paul Pogba, who has been the conundrum for every manager that’s been there so far, and he’s getting the best out of him.
“Pogba is starting to produce the goods on a regular basis and you can see what a player he is. All anyone has been asking with Pogba is consistency and now we’re getting it and seeing the fruits.
“What I’ve wanted from Paul which I think has been missing for a while is playing the ball quick. Now people are not getting close to him and that’s the Paul know. Play quick and when it has to get physical, he can deal with it.”
Pogba has reestablished himself as a key player for Manchester United in recent weeks, scoring the winning goals in 2 of the Red Devil’s last 4 Premier League games.
However, the Frenchman put in an alarmingly sloppy display against Sheffield United on Wednesday with Solskjaer’s men suffering a shocking 2-1 display at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old’s relationship with Solskjaer could be a key factor in the summer when his long-term is set to be decided. Mino Raiola is pushing for an exit but Pogba is believed to be happy at the club.
