Diallo has been working with the first team following his transfer.
Ferdinand expects the Ivorian to be the club’s only January arrival.
Speaking to Stretford Paddock, Rio Ferdinand noted: “Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping that Amad Diallo from Atalanta will come in and set the world alight in training – so he gives him some food for thought.
“I don’t think he’ll bring anyone in. Listen, it is alright saying we want someone but who is selling in this market right now? I don’t see many teams who are willing to sell players right now.
“So unless you’re going to break the bank and pay monstrous fees, I don’t think Man United want to be doing that right now. I think Man United will leave this window alone. I’d be very surprised if they go in again.”
Diallo is set to play for the Manchester United’s Under-23s in the coming days after working with the first-team squad at the Carrington training centre last week.
With the Red Devils lacking a natural right winger, the Ivorian could prove to be a perfect signing for Solskjaer – here’s where he would fit at Old Trafford.
