Puig reveals that Koeman named four players to shoot the penalties and he offered himself as the fifth taker.
Riqui says he will continue to fight for a place at the first team.
“Ronald [Koeman] named four players to shoot the penalties. I asked for the fifth one,” Riqui Puig said after the Real Sociedad win.
“I’m very happy to have scored at the end, a penalty-kicker was missing, and I offered myself. I shot with great conviction, I had to believe in myself. Before shooting I knew it was going in, I shot it confidently. I am very happy to have scored my first goal for the first team.”
“I never lose the desire to be in the first team and I will continue fighting for it.”
Puig got to play for 30 minutes against La Real and did a great job, being one of the most lively Barcelona players on the pitch. During the penalty shoot-out, with the score being 2-2, Riqui took it upon himself to shoot the last one, and he didn’t miss.
