Victor Lindelof was not involved in Manchester United’s trip to Fulham in the PL on Wednesday night and the Norwegian manager confirmed it is an ongoing problem with his back that has kept him out.
Sweden international has missed a lot of action over the last 18 months with a recurring back issue, rarely keeping him out for long, but clearly continuing to be a problem. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that it, again, is not serious but he is looking to manage the centre-back’s fitness and chose to rest him against the Cottagers.
‘He’s not bad,’ said the Norwegian manager. ‘It’s still his back we’ve got a few issues with. I found it better he stayed home and trained a little bit then be ready for the weekend.’ Victor has had to play through the pain for much of this campaign with the back issue.
He said in December: ‘I’ve been struggling a little bit with my back in the last couple of months but I’m always trying to do my best to help the team on the pitch and, overall, I think it’s been all right, I want to help this team win trophies that’s why I play football. If the team needs me, I’m going to do my best to be there and try to perform at the highest level.’

Red Devils are reasonably well-stocked at centre-back, with Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly playing against Fulham, with Axel Tuanzebe on the bench. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also made changes up front, with Marcus Rashford dropping to the bench and Anthony Martial, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani leading the line.
