- Bruno Fernandes appears to be close to a United move.
- Portuguese sources claim the deal is being negotiated in London.
- Sporting are said to be willing to let the midfielder leave for a fee of £60m.
Bruno Fernandes could end up at Manchester United this month after failing to move to Old Trafford last summer, according to several Portuguese newspapers.
A Bola, Record and O Jogo are all reporting that Sporting Lisbon bosses are currently negotiating the midfielder’s transfer at United’s offices in London.
President Federico Varandas and sporting director Hugo Viana reportedly arrived in the British capital on Friday morning ahead of the grueling negotiations for the midfielder.
Sporting, meanwhile, have officially confirmed that Varandas left Portugal: “The president is abroad for professional reasons.”
While the 25-year-old’s new release clause stands at a whopping £85 million, the Primeira Liga giants are said to be open to a £60 million deal.
Speaking about the player’s future this week, Sporting boss Jorge Fernandes said: “He’s a huge player. All players like Bruno always have a lot of market.
“I don’t like to think about that beforehand, but I’m starting to think of alternatives within our team if Bruno doesn’t stay with us. I hope that doesn’t happen. Bruno is the best player in the league.”
