- Luis Suarez rejected a huge offer from the Chinese Super League last summer.
- The reason for the rejection was the possibility of winning the Champions League trophy.
- Besides, the Uruguayan was tempted by Neymar’s potential return.
Luis Suarez decided to stay at Barca last summer despite a huge offer that came from China, Mundo Deportivo report.
The Uruguayan was offered a tremendous amount of money by one of the Chinese Super League clubs, the report states. However, Suarez didn’t hesitate to decline the proposal as he prioritised his and his family’s happiness. Besides, he was supposedly tempted by the possibilities of winning the Champions League and bringing Neymar back.
In his most recent interview, Luis Suarez emphasized his desire to sign a new contract with Barca. The club’s stance, however, is unknown as Barcelona supposedly scout a new striker who will effectively replace Suarez next season.
Besides, it was reported that David Beckham’s Inter Miami were highly interested in the 32-year-old striker. The Uruguayan himself positively reacted to the rumours, saying that he sees the MLS as an attractive destination for him and his family. Suarez’s Uruguay teammate Nicolas Lodeiro revealed that Luis often asked him about the MLS.
Luis Suarez has scored 13 goals and provided 9 assists in 21 appearances for Barcelona so far this season. His solid assist record proves he may even register a higher number of passes leading to a goal than in his best season (18 in 2015/16).
