Tyrell Malacia was signed by Manchester United, according to John Murtough.
Tyrell Malacia, the left-back from Feyenoord, was revealed as Manchester United’s first summer acquisition on Tuesday.
As Manchester United announced their first acquisition of the summer, John Murtough praised Tyrell Malacia as a “exciting, energetic young footballer.”
Malacia and his agent Ali Dursun were at Carrington on Monday to complete his physical and sign the papers for his move to Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag is no stranger to Malacia, having competed against the Feyenoord full-back in the Eredivisie with Ajax.
Before the move to England was confirmed, the 22-year-old explained that he had a “nice talk” with his new management. Lyon was expected to sign the left-back before Ten Hag intervened.
United’s football director, Murtaugh, stated upon the official announcement: “Tyrell is a dynamic and exciting young footballer with a wealth of experience for his age, including five seasons in the Eredivisie, a European final, and full international honors for the Netherlands. We are forward to watching him develop in the next years under the direction of Erik ten Hag and his coaching staff. Tyrell is warmly welcomed by everyone at Manchester United.”
Malacia has agreed to terms with Manchester United on a four-year contract extension.
