- Tebas says that Barca, alongside Valencia and Real Madrid, are the teams most affected by the pandemic.
- If Barca fail to implement a new round of pay cuts, the club might have to declare bankruptcy.
“Some clubs have to keep working on reducing their wage bills again. The most affected clubs in Spain are Valencia, Barcelona, Real Madrid. Those clubs cannot get rid of their players,” La Liga president Javier Tebas has told Marca.
“Valencia are no longer in the Champions League, for example, and they get criticized for having to sell players, but they have to sell and Barcelona have to lower their players’ wages in order to finish the season. They have no other option.”
Barca have recently confirmed that they’ve failed to reach an agreement over a new series of pay cuts with the players. There are certain fears that Barca could declare bankruptcy if wage reductions aren’t implemented.
