The Blues were eager to sign Haaland from RB Salzburg.
However, they weren’t sure about paying his agent fees and big wages at the time.
The reliable reporter Matt Law said on the London Is Blue Podcast: “Chelsea nearly signed Haaland before he went to Dortmund….they were very close to him. Pretty close. But at that stage, they weren’t keen to pay the wages and agent’s fees.”
Haaland moved from RB Salzburg to Dortmund last January. The brilliant striker is one of the best players in the world today – he netted a brace in the Champions League Round of 16 last night against Sevilla.
Matt Law earlier also reported that the Blues will try to sign the generational talent in the summer; however, that deal won’t be easy.
