Many have pointed out the sheer similarity of goals scored by Romelu Lukaku against Liverpool in the League Cup final and Sadio Mane against West Ham in the Premier League.
The key difference between them was that the Chelsea man’s strike was disallowed while Liverpool’s goal was allowed to stand on VAR review.
The situation has raised doubts about the consistency of VAR as many Chelsea fans believe that the system has been working against the Blues recently.
An Instagram account Chelsea Pulse made a collage of the Lukaku and Mane goals, taking aim at VAR and it’s inconsistent decision-making.
“One that was disallowed and the other one was allowed! It makes no sense,” a caption reads.
It was spotted that Thiago Silva has ‘liked’ the post and posted three emojis indicating he finds the VAR application absolutely ridiculous.
