On Friday, we spoke about Barcelona goalkeepers and their transfer status ahead of the summer transfer campaign.
Let’s continue with defenders – we have lots of them!
1. Dani Alves
Dani has recently turned 39, but he is still a player who’s capable of making the difference for Xavi’s Barcelona side.
Barca are likely to offer the Brazilian a half-a-year contract extension that would allow him to be physically prepared for the 2022 World Cup.

2. Sergino Dest
The American wing-back has clearly improved under Xavi, although his injuries slow the progress down a bit.
Barcelona will only consider offers worth at least €25m for the 21-year-old. If they don’t receive such an offer, the player will stay.

3. Oscar Mingueza
Mingueza doesn’t receive enough game time under Xavi – and every reliable source will tell you Barca want to offload him this summer.
Barcelona plan to get between €5m and €10m for the 23-year-old.

4. Ronald Araujo
The Uruguayan sensation has recently signed a new deal with the club.
He could become one of the team’s key players for years to come, so he’s not going anywhere.

5. Gerard Pique
The 2022/23 season is going to be the last one for the 35-year-old – but he is definitely staying at the club next term.

6. Eric Garcia
The 21-year-old has been an important squad member this season, finally becoming more consistent under Xavi.
He signed a long-term deal with the club last year. Without a doubt, he will stay here.

7. Samuel Umtiti
Umtiti has recently signed a new deal with a pay cut that helped the club register Ferran Torres.
It will be difficult to offload him this summer, but Barca are hoping that a loan move is possible.
Sell or keep? Sell
8. Clement Lenglet
The Frenchman is said to be out of Xavi’s plans for the next season.
He is very likely to leave, with a few Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the 26-year-old.
Sell or keep? Sell
9. Jordi Alba
While Barcelona are seemingly looking for Alba’s potential successor, he is still going to play a key role next season.
Alba’s contract runs until 2024, and he is likely to fulfill it.
Sell or keep? Keep
10. Alejandro Balde
It will be difficult for the 18-year-old to compete for the starter spot next season.
However, he could easily be a regular starter for Barcelona B, and this seems to be the club’s plan for him.
