- Thomas Tuchel was trending on social media on Saturday, April 22 for all the wrong reasons
- The German oversaw Bayern Munich suffer yet another defeat, this time against his former side Mainz
- Defeat gives Borussia Dortmund a chance to establish a lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings
Football fans all said the same thing about Thomas Tuchel after Bayern Munich suffered a lowly 3-1 defeat to Mainz on Saturday.
The Bavarians put up a shambolic display against Tuchel’s former side as Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the German giants, but that was pretty much all they had to show for in the game.
Goals from Ludovic Ajorque, Leandro Barreiro, and Aaron Martin proved to be the ultimate sucker punch for Bayern Munich, who continue with a slow start to life under their new manager.
In truth, the win was nothing short of what Mainz deserved, as they showed some intent and little fear of the record Bundesliga champions.
Mainz have their reasons to collect as many points as possible, as they are well-placed to qualify for Europe with only a handful of games to go.
“Shouldn’t have sacked Nagelsmann”
Tuchel replaced Julian Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich on March 24, but his first month has been anything but easy.
According to Fabrizio Romano , the Bayern Munich hierarchy is growing increasingly concerned about recent results, evident from their dejected looks at full-time.
Big disappointment in the stands for FC Bayern directors after losing today 3-1 to Mainz.
Horrible moment for Bayern after being eliminated from the Champions League and domestic cup DFB Pokal.

Wholesome changes at the club are expected in the summer, but whether Tuchel will retain his place remains to be seen.
Defeat against Mainz is the former Chelsea boss’s third as Bayern boss, which is already as many as Julian Nagelsmann suffered in his 37 games in charge of the club this season, according to ESPN.

“Nagelsmann was having his team score goals galore with Choupo Moting up front. What’s Tuchel’s excuse?”
@Humble_10 said:
“It hard for a team to change their system in mid-season so tuchel is not the problem the players need to adapt with tuchel’s stystem and it will take time.”
While @nawaf joked:
“Tuchel will be sacked end of the season and they will resign Negelsmann,”
