Here is the Arsenal morning digest for Thursday, October 8.
Mikel Arteta has decided what’s next for Mesut Ozil at Arsenal after the summer transfer window
This summer has been an uncertain time for Mesut Ozil.
The German international has failed to make a matchday squad for Arsenal this season, and it would seem his time at the club is coming to an end.
Now, according to the Mirror, it is understood that the former Real Madrid star will not be named as part of the club’s 25-man Europa League squad on Thursday.
Every team will have a List A group and a List B group. Each team participating in the competition must name a maximum of 25 players in their squad, with two spaces being taken up by goalkeepers.
There are a minimum of eight places reserved exclusively for ‘locally trained players’.
Arsenal fans noticed what happened between Mesut Ozil and Mikel Arteta in training
Arsenal fans have been handed a shot of optimism regarding the future of Mesut Ozil.
A clip of Arsenal’s training surfaced on Sky Sports News on Wednesday morning and showed Mesut Ozil sharing a fist-pump with manager Mikel Arteta.
The German international has been a pariah at Arsenal of late as issues over his contract keep him out of the first-team picture.
Ozil is in the final year of his £350,000 per week deal at the Emirates and has yet to make a matchday squad this season.
Kieran Tierney tests negative for coronavirus as Arsenal and SFA hold talks
Kieran Tierney said he tested negative for coronavirus as Arsenal and the Scottish Football Association continue to discuss the best course of action for the player.
Tierney and team-mate Ryan Christie have been told to self-isolate for 14 days, beginning on October 6.
This comes after they were in close contact with Southampton’s Stuart Armstrong, who tested positive for COVID-19.
This would not only see Tierney miss Scotland’s games against Israel, Slovakia and the Czech Republic but also Arsenal’s trip to Manchester City after the international break.
Arsenal’s medical team have confirmed that Tierney was socially distant from Armstrong and he has not broken any COVID-19 protocols.
They are working on ways to bring the player to London safely, likely to be by car.
Afriupdate understands Tierney has tested negative on several occasions and also has antibodies.
