Apparently, Ernesto Valverde is once and truly gone. According to ESPN, his belongings have just been packed at Barca’s training ground. He will say goodbye to the players tomorrow, the source continues.
It seems that the official announcement will arrive in the coming minutes.
Earlier, CatRadio have reported that Bartomeu has contacted Valverde’s agent to discuss the terms of the potential dismissal.
It remains to be seen who is going to replace Valverde. However, Barca’s sporting director Eric Abidal has recently arrived at the board’s meeting to list the potential candidates.
At first, Valverde’s position was offered to Xavi but the ex-Blaugrana decided to stay with Al Saad at least until June.
For now, Mauricio Pochettino and Quique Setien are seen as the likeliest candidates for the soon-to-be-vacant spot.
Barca B current manager Garcia Pimienta is another option, according to Mundo Deportivo. The 45-year-old is expected to be in charge of Barcelona until the end of the season. After that, the club will reportedly hold new talks with Xavi to make him a new Barca boss.
