Considering the current crisis at Barcelona, Tribuna.com decided to take a look at the Catalans’ available options should they decided to part ways with Ernesto Valverde.
The man many Barcelona fans dreamt about last season is a free agent. He left Real Betis at the end of 2018/19 season and hasn’t been signed by any club yet. Setien’s style corresponds to Barcelona’s traditional values and is something the Cules have been longing for since Luis Enrique’s times.
Xavi Hernandez
Barca legend’s appointment is inevitable, the only question remaining is when Xavi is going to be ready to take the reigns at the Camp Nou. Perhaps, he needs an additional year or two before returning to Catalonia, however, the current crisis at Barca might force him to come back sooner.
It has already been reported that Barca are considering the German as Valverde’s heir. Interestingly, the 46-year-old is a well-known admirer of Josep Guardiola. Tuchel tries to emulate Pep in many ways and would be a great option to continue promoting the Catalan coach’s legacy at Barca. Currently, Thomas has a contract with Paris Saint-German until 2021.
Arsene Wenger
The French legend has been without a club for more than a year now after his monumental stint at Arsenal. Wenger values attractive football and has massive European experience that lets him stand out among the other candidates on the list. According to recent reports, he has accepted a job offer from FIFA but still plans to return to coaching in the future.
Van Bronckhorst is another coach who promotes attacking football and is not afraid to take risks. In addition, he spent four years at Barcelona in 2003-2007 and knows the club’s unique culture. He is currently unemployed after leaving Feyenoord this summer and would definitely accept an offer to return to Barca.
