Arsenal’s preparations for the big Premier League clash against Manchester United are complete.
The Gunners go into the game against the title contenders on the back of a 3-1 win over Southampton on Tuesday night, gaining a measure of revenge for their FA Cup elimination last weekend.
But in the league, Mikel Arteta’s side have been in good form since beating Chelsea on Boxing Day last month.
With five wins in their last six league outings, Arsenal will be in a confident mood as they look to record a double over United having won the reverse fixture 1-0 earlier in the season.
Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the only goal of the game at Old Trafford, but football.london understands he won’t be available this evening.
The 31-year-old revealed on Wednesday that he has been looking after his mother who is currently suffering from illness.
With that said, Arteta still has plenty of options to cover for Aubameyang’s absence.
Ahead of the game at the Emirates Stadium the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, and Thomas Partey were put through their paces at the club’s London Colney training base.
Also present was new loan signing Martin Odegaard and he gave fans a little teaser of his creative ability.
As spotted in a behind the scenes of Arsenal’s training session video uploaded to YouTube, at around the 7.02-minute mark, the Norway international claims the assist for Reiss Nelson’s goal.
Although, it wasn’t just any standard assist as Odegaard backheeled the ball through Joe Willock’s legs to create an opening for Nelson.
Odegaard is in line to make his debut against the Red Devils, but Arteta hasn’t indicated if the attacking midfielder will start.
“It’s a little bit early to decide,” Arteta said in his pre-match press conference.
“Let’s see how he goes in training and we will see, don’t worry.”
