Steve Sidwell, former Chelsea man, reveals that there were several proper leaders in the Blues dressing room under Mourinho.
People used to give it their all in training, smashing the hell out of each other, as per Sidwell.
The ex-midfielder says that Drogba once wanted to kill Tal Ben Haim after the defender went through him.
At the time, Mourinho responded asking Drogba to kill him after Saturday as he needed Ben Haim for the match.
Speaking about his time at Chelsea, former midfielder Steve Sidwell revealed to BT Sport: “There were leaders [in that dressing room]. Terry, Lampard, Essien, Drogba, Ballack – there were leaders in there.
“In training, people were smashing the hell out of each other. I remember Essien snapping Shevchenko in half.
“Tal Ben Haim going through Drogba, Drogba getting up saying, ‘I want to kill him’. Mourinho said, ‘I need him on Saturday, you can kill him next week’.
“But he [Mourinho] loved that, I think he thrived off that and I don’t think he’s getting that at Tottenham.”
Steve Sidwell spent the 2007/08 campaign working under the Portuguese boss.
The squad during Mourinho’s first spell in charge included some of the most iconic players the club has ever produced and lead to 2 Premier League titles won in record fashion, among other accolades.
