Espanyol fans were heavily booing Gerard Pique as soon as the latter received the ball.
Seems like they are still mad at the Barca veteran for his cheeky comments after one of the derbies in 2018.
While speaking about the Espanyol side, Pique referred to them as a team that plays in Cornella – not in the city of Barcelona.
“I am not saying this to upset people, I am just stating a fact. Espanyol play in Cornella,” Pique later noted, as per Reuters.

Espanyol complained about Pique’s words, accusing him of inciting violence and xenophobia.
“If anyone doubts where Espanyol was founded, just look at our badge,” ex-Espanyol striker Gerard Moreno said back then, as per the Guardian.
Espanyol’s full name is Reial Club Deportiu Espanyol de Barcelona, S.A.D. While there is actually ‘Barcelona’ in it, the club itself is based in Cornella which is a Catalan municipality located near the city of Barcelona.
Well, everyone has their own truth here. However, this situation shouldn’t raise much concern 4 years after Pique said those words, in our opinion.
