The former United captain believes he disrespected some of his teammates by keeping them out of his ultimate XI.
Keane also said that he’d make 3-4 changes in that XI if he’s ever forced to do it again.
Roy Keane picked his ultimate Man United XI in an ITV documentary alongside his former Arsenal rival Patrick Vieira many years ago.
However, the Irishman now regrets doing that and explained why, saying: “That programme is not something I’m entirely happy that I’ve done.
“Whether people liked it or not, I felt uncomfortable picking my best XI. I felt embarrassed leaving players out. I feel like I disrespected my team-mates.”
“And if you asked me to name my best XI now, well I wouldn’t do it, first of all. But if I did, there’d probably be three or four changes.”
In his ultimate Man United XI, Keane named this team: Peter Schmeichel, Paul Parker, Jaap Stam, Gary Pallister, Denis Irwin, Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Ince, David Beckham, Eric Cantona, Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The absence of United legends Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville shocked many. Having spent 12 years at United and played against some of the best footballers in the country, it isn’t surprising why Keane regrets ever picking ups ultimate XI and keeping out some iconic names.
