In the presser ahead of Galatasaray, Xavi was asked to comment on the rumours linking both Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland with Real Madrid.
“Neither one thing nor the other has happened. It makes no sense to comment on this…We are focused on tomorrow’s game,” the coach replied.
“Barcelona is building an important project for next season. In football, the team is more important than individuals. If the players make a difference, perfect, but what really matters is the group.
“Superstars who barely press or good players who run and press? We can’t have a player in our team who doesn’t press. It’s very clear. Pressure is the basis of our game. It’s non-negotiable.”
As for the project Barca are building, the Catalans have been linked with a plethora of players. However, the closest to joining are believed to be Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie and Noussair Mazraoui. All of them will become free agents at the end of the season.
