As per previous reports, Xavi wanted to start Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in Barcelona’s upcoming game against Atletico Madrid.
However, the coach has been recommended by his staff not to rush the Gabonese into the battle right away, Mundo Deportivo’s Fernando Polo claims.
That’s because Aubameyang hasn’t played a competitive match since December 2. This puts the 32-year-old at the risk of a muscle injury in case of an overload.
Previously, Xavi revealed that he went against the recommendations of the doctors and played Ansu Fati for longer than advised against Athletic Bilbao. As a result, the youngster suffered a relapse and will be out for several months.
