WWE Fastlane 2021 Results And Highlights
The WWE Fastlane 2021 was the final stop before Wrestlemania, and the performers gave it their all as they looked set for the biggest event in wrestling that is billed for next month.
Afriupdate News brings you recaps of the matches and the results of the action that occurred at the WWE Thunderdome.
Riddle Vs. Mustapha Ali (United States Championship): This was a match between two highly athletic and talented individuals. It appeared to be an even contest in the early goings but as it progressed, Riddle began to slowly assert dominance and eventually found an opening to pin Ali for the victory to retain his title.
Nia Jax & Shayna Baszler Vs. Bianca Belair & Sasha Banks (Women’s Tag Team Championship): With the rising conflict within the two teams, things looked to come to a head as the champions engaged in an argument early on. Jax and Baszler isolated Belair and continued to torment her with beatings before she managed to tag her partner in. An attempt by Belair to stop Jax’s interference backfired and while Belair and Banks argued, Baszler rolled up to Banks and pinned her.
Big E Vs. Apollo Crews (Intercontinental Championship): An enraged Big E dominated Crews as the match started, unleashing a series of superplexes on his opponent. His aggression led to openings and Crews eventually turned the tables and gave the bigger man a taste of his own medicine. But in the end, it was Big E who got the victory, retaining his title.
Braun Strowman Vs. Elias: There was only one direction this type of match was going to go; Strowman, clearly the bigger and far more powerful contestant beat the living daylight out of Elias. It wasn’t particularly a surprise when the Monster Among Men scored a pin for the win.
Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Seth Rollins: Arguably two of the most talented WWE superstars, Nakamura and Rollins, clashed in an exciting match. Rollins taunted Nakamura every chance he got as both competitors tried to gain the advantage. Nakamura impressed but Rollins showed that he was the better man as he stomped his rival to score the victory.
Drew McIntyre Vs. Sheamus (No Holds Barred Match): A 20-year friendship-turned-bitter rivalry culminated in the battle for supremacy as the two warriors bashed each other, getting body scars for all their troubles. Sheamus inflicted more harm on his opponent, and at a time McIntyre was barely able to stand. But the Scotsman reached deep within to pin Sheamus for the win. Definitely one of the best matches of the night.
Randy Orton Vs. Alexa Bliss: This was surely as unnecessary as it was uncalled for. Fans knew where it was going. While Orton seemed wary of Bliss (who has been getting into his head for the past few weeks) at first, he mustered confidence and was about to launch an attack when the ring floor opened and Bray Wyatt’s The Fiend came out and flattened him with a brutal assault.
Roman Reigns Vs. Daniel Bryan (Universal Championship): The cocky Reigns who was accompanied by Paul Heyman obviously underestimated the smaller Bryan who gave him an unforgettable encounter, targetting his left shoulder and looking to make the champion tap out.
Reigns continued to fend off Bryan’s repeated attacks on his shoulder, manoeuvering his way out of submission holds. But his resolve started to waver and just when he was about to tap out, Edge interfered and blasted both men with a steel chair. He left both men helpless on the floor and Reigns crawled to his opponent and put his body on him for the three-count.
Even though Reigns emerged victorious, Bryan was the better superstar of the match and it is hoped that he will get at least another opportunity to challenge for the championship title.
