After an outage that lasted for more than two hours and disrupted access for thousands of users, Meta Platforms (META.O) announced on Friday that Meta’s social media apps Facebook and Instagram have been restored.
According to an outage-tracking website called Downdetector, at one point in time, approximately 20,000 users reported that they were unable to use Facebook, Instagram, or WhatsApp, which is a messaging program owned by Meta.
“Earlier on today, a number of users reported having difficulty accessing Instagram due to a technical issue. A spokeswoman for Meta told Afriupdate that the issue was rectified as swiftly as possible for everyone who was affected by it.
Meta confirmed that the problems related to Ads Manager, the advertising platform that enables brands to purchase and develop Facebook advertisements, were also resolved.
According to Downdetector, the number of reports of service disruptions had dropped below 500 as of 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time (2230 GMT).

Downdetector is able to monitor outages because it compiles status information from a variety of sources, including faults that are reported by users on its own platform. It is possible that a higher number of users are impacted by the outage.

According to the business, problems that had been occurring with Meta’s advertisement manager, an advertising platform that enables brands to buy and create Facebook advertisements, have been fixed.
