According to state media, China launches its first OS called OpenKylin, the country’s f first native open-source desktop operating system, as the country ramps up attempts to reduce its reliance on technology developed in the United States.
They stated that China’s version, which was released on Wednesday and was based on the existing open-source Linux operating system, was constructed by a community of approximately 4,000 people. It is utilized in China’s space program as well as industries such as finance and energy, according to these sources.
According to a research compiled by the industry and cited by state-run media, China’s vast market for operating systems had a value of 15.5 billion yuan (or $2.1 billion) in 2017.

China launches its first OS in recent years, one of the most important goals for China’s technology industry has been to establish an operating system that is not dependent on technology from the United States. As a result, a large number of Chinese enterprises and organizations have contributed to the creation of the OpenKylin system.

There are about a dozen Chinese firms now working on the development of alternative operating systems to popular ones like as Windows and MacOS, which are respectively created by Microsoft and Apple. These Chinese companies are attempting to create an alternative to these popular operating systems.
One such company, UnionTech Software Technology Co Ltd, has been working on what it refers to as the “Unity operating system” for some time now.
