Shopify, a Canadian e-commerce startup, announced on Wednesday that it launches merchant AI in its platform.
Shopify launches merchant AI making them the most recent technology business to roll out such a tool.
In a video that was shared on Twitter, Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke demonstrated how the virtual assistant that the company calls “Sidekick” would function. Sidekick would be integrated into Shopify in the form of a button and would respond to questions from merchants.

After a significant increase in the number of people using OpenAI’s chatbot ChatGPT, other businesses, including Alibaba Group Holding, Zoom Video Communications (ZM.O), and Databricks, have introduced AI assistants in the most recent few months.

In addition to this, the assistant is able to offer proprietors of Shopify stores aid in the process of updating their respective stores. For instance, it is able to apply discounts on any and all of the items that are featured on the website if it is instructed to do so.

The video described the function as “coming soon,” but it did not specify when users would actually have access to it.
