Apple has revealed a new design that will include a touchscreen capability on the Airpod Pro case.
The next iteration of AirPods may have a new design element that has a built-in touchscreen display and other functions that allow users to scroll through music and change the volume while listening.
Under the title “Devices, Methods, and Graphical User Interface Interactions with a Headphones Case,” a patent application for the new function was first submitted in September 2021 and contained specifications of potential future designs.
“Configuring a headphone case with an interactive user interface to enable user control of operations associated with the wireless headphones can improve user control over a user’s wireless headphones and increase the utility of a headphone case,” the patent stated.
In addition, the rumored new model to join the AirPod family will reportedly have playback controls for connected apps like Apple Music, as well as choices for switching audio sources, output models, and volume adjustment with haptic feedback.
Swipes, presses, and even squeezing the cover may all be used as haptic feedback to change settings while listening to music. These settings may also launch Siri or even activate transparency and noise cancellation.
