The White House, in collaboration with leading companies such as Amazon, Alphabet’s Google, and Best Buy, has announced a groundbreaking initiative aimed to enhance cybersecurity for smart devices.
This new certification and labeling program will significantly raise the standards for cybersecurity across a wide range of devices, including refrigerators, microwaves, televisions, climate control systems, and fitness trackers.

To signify their compliance with the program’s security standards, retailers and manufacturers will apply a distinctive logo called the “U.S. Cyber Trust Mark” to their devices. This labeling system is expected to be fully operational by 2024.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will facilitate the program’s rollout by seeking public input before its implementation and registering a national trademark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Several prominent retailers and manufacturers have already committed to participating in this initiative. LG Electronics U.S.A., Logitech, Cisco Systems, and Samsung are among the companies joining forces to improve the cybersecurity of their devices.
This recent development follows the White House’s launch of a national cyber strategy in March, which called upon software makers and companies to take greater responsibility for ensuring the security of their systems and preventing hacking incidents.
Concurrently, the administration has intensified efforts within agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Defense to disrupt the activities of hackers and ransomware groups worldwide.
