YouTube Limits Ad Blockers as it tests a new policy that prompts viewers to disable ad blockers or upgrade to a paid membership after just three videos.
As noted initially by Bleeping Computer, users on Reddit shared screenshots of the streaming service’s warning notice for anyone using an ad-blocking extension on desktop. The notification states, “Video player will be blocked after 3 videos.” Below, it says, “It appears that you may be making use of an ad blocker. Unless YouTube is whitelisted or the ad filter is disabled, videos will not play.
After YouTube removed the video, another user shared a screenshot. The notice states, “Ad blockers are against YouTube’s TOS.” Some mobile users have also reported that YouTube limits ad blockers.
