Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026
This policy explains what Afriupdate ("we", "us") collects when you use afriupdate.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Using the site means you accept this policy.
What we collect
- Account data. If you create a free account, we store your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google returns (name, email, avatar).
- Activity you create. Saved opportunities, opportunities you submit, and posts or comments you publish in the community.
- Technical data. Standard server and analytics data such as IP address, device and browser type, referring page and the pages you view. We use this to keep the site secure and to understand which opportunities are useful.
We do not ask for or store payment details, passports, or immigration documents. Afriupdate is free and never charges applicants.
Advertising and cookies
Afriupdate is funded by advertising. We work with third-party advertising vendors, including Google, which may place and read cookies on your device or use similar identifiers to serve ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
- Where the law requires it (including the EEA, UK and Switzerland), we ask for consent before setting non-essential advertising or analytics cookies, and you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Some links to employers, universities and services are affiliate or sponsored links. If you use them we may earn a commission at no cost to you. This never affects whether an opportunity is listed or how it is ranked.
Why we use your data
To run your account and saved list, to publish and moderate community content, to show and measure advertising, to prevent abuse and fraud, and to comply with legal obligations. We rely on your consent for optional cookies and marketing emails, and on our legitimate interest in operating a secure, useful service for everything else.
Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that help us operate the site — hosting and database infrastructure, authentication, email delivery, analytics and advertising vendors — and with authorities where we are legally required to. We do not sell your personal data.
Retention and your rights
We keep account data while your account exists and delete or anonymise it after closure, unless we must keep records for legal reasons. You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing, or withdraw consent — write to privacy@afriupdate.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Afriupdate is not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Questions? Contact us.
